Eygpt is a country in the north-east of Africa. Egypt has many old places. One of these old places is the Pyramids, also known as the Giza Pyramids. These Pyramids are one of the oldest constructions that still exist in the world; they are over 4500 years old. The biggest and oldest Pyramid is called the Great Pyramid of Khufu (or Cheops).

The Great Pyramid is a building in the shape of a triangle. The Pharaoh Khufu was buried inside this Pyramid when he was dead. In Egypt, a king is called a pharaoh.

The Pyramid is made out of blocks of rock. Entering the inside of the Pyramid is like walking through a cave. The next parts of the inside of the Pyramid are like climbing a slanted wall in a tunnel on a ladder nailed to the wall, instead of climbing a staircase in a tunnel. Finally deep inside the Pyramid, there is a room with a sarcophagus, which is a huge stone coffin. This room is where the dead pharaoh used to be. After he died, the pharaoh was made into a mummy and put into the sarcophagus in this room with many of his treasures.

The climb up and down inside the biggest Pyramid in Egypt was not at all what I expected!
